Programme: ERDF Hamburg funding period 2021-2027 "Cluster Bridges 2.0"
Project period: 1 August 2025 – 31 July 2027
Funding: The KAIROS for Clusters project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE) and funded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

The Hamburg clusters Renewable Energies Hamburg (EEHH) and Hamburg Aviation (HAv) bring together business, science and administration. With the KAIROS for Clusters project – AI-supported cluster bridges for knowledge transfer and cooperation – they are bringing artificial intelligence into cluster work in a targeted manner: for more efficient processes, better cooperation and tangible benefits for companies.
KAIROS for Clusters has a clear goal: to make the potential of AI in knowledge and technology transfer visible and usable. The central question is: How can artificial intelligence help cluster organisations and their members find, share and make better use of knowledge more quickly?
Together with the research institute Hamburger Informatik Technologie-Center e.V. (HITeC e.V.), EEHH and HAv analyse specific needs, identify suitable use cases and develop practical AI prototypes. These solutions – from intelligent knowledge management to data-based decision-making processes – are designed to make day-to-day work noticeably easier.
The results will not only benefit the two clusters, but will also be made available to other Hamburg cluster institutions and their member companies. In keeping with the origin of the word "Kairos" (Greek: the favourable, decisive moment), we want to establish AI effectively and efficiently in Hamburg's cluster landscape.
Try out artificial intelligence – without risk
Companies can test their own prototypes free of charge based on the AI solutions developed in the project. This is an ideal decision-making aid before investing and an easy introduction to the world of artificial intelligence.
Knowledge transfer from research and practice
Close cooperation between cluster management, research and industry generates valuable empirical knowledge. This knowledge is passed on in a targeted manner so that companies can benefit from concrete assistance.
Access to know-how and networking
KAIROS for Clusters creates space for exchange: companies can participate in events that are specifically tailored to their needs. This enables them to build up AI competencies within their own companies and develop them strategically.
Data protection-compliant and transparent solutions
All prototypes are developed in accordance with the highest data protection standards (GDPR). The project consistently relies on locally hosted open source technologies, thus ensuring transparency, traceability and independence.
Companies from the Hamburg clusters can become part of KAIROS for Clusters directly,...
This makes the use of artificial intelligence in everyday work tangible and a real competitive advantage.
