The Clean Aviation project ECARE (European Clean Aviation Regional Ecosystem) has successfully concluded after two years of intensive collaboration among key aeronautic partners. The project's final review meeting, held last week in Toulouse, marked the completion of this significant initiative aimed at strengthening Europe's aeronautics ecosystem. Throughout its duration, ECARE pursued two main objectives ECARE: Developing and disseminating methodologies to create funding synergy mechanisms applicable to all EU aeronautical regions and developing the ECARE Digital Platform as a one-stop platform for stakeholders.
Project Achievements
ECARE has delivered two major tools that will continue to serve the aeronautic industry beyond the project's completion:
The ECARE Digital Platform
This innovative platform serves as a central hub for stakeholders across the European aeronautic sector, facilitating connections between funding bodies, industrial players, research institutions and clusters. The platform enables organizations to identify potential collaboration partners, share resources, and access funding opportunities more effectively.
The Handbook for Synergies
This comprehensive handbook provides a detailed frameworks on how to establish synergies in aeronautic regions. A six-phase pathway for implementation is illustrated with a step-by-step guide, best practices and proposed synergy mechanisms. Additonally,18 synergy mechanisms are explained in detail for future implementation. It addresses key aspects such as funding optimization, and strategic alignment of funding bodies.
Continuing Impact
While the project has formally concluded, its impact will continue through the newly established Working Group 'Synergies' within the European Aerospace Cluster Partnership (EACP). This working group will ensure that ECARE's tools and resources remain accessible and continue to benefit the aerospace community.
"We remain committed to advancing a more innovative, interconnected, and sustainable European aeronautics industry," explains Maybrit Brooksnieder, International Affairs Manager at Hamburg Aviation. "The tools and methodologies developed through ECARE will continue to support our members in leveraging funding opportunities and fostering valuable collaborations."
About the Consortium
The ECARE project brought together leading aerospace organizations including:
- Aerospace Valley
- District of Campania
- EASN-TIS
- Hamburg Aviation
These partners worked collaboratively to strengthen regional aerospace ecosystems and promote sustainable innovation across Europe's aviation sector. The pilot regions (Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France, Campania in Italy, and Hamburg in Germany and Campania in Italy), with their established aeronautical expertise, represented by the clusters, served as testing grounds for the ECARE methodologies.
