Hamburg is increasingly establishing itself as a hub for pioneering developments in aviation. The German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Diehl Aviation are joining forces here to work on forward-looking solutions for civil aviation. Their collaboration focuses on intelligent cabin concepts, efficient onboard systems, and low-emission technologies – all developed at one of Europe’s leading aerospace locations.
“Together, we are making an important contribution to a sustainable and high-performance aviation industry of tomorrow – particularly in the areas of avionics, cabin systems, and forward-looking system architectures,” said DLR Chair of the Executive Board, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla. “This cooperation successfully continues our long-standing joint activities in safety and defense research.”
Diehl Aviation CEO Jörg Schuler added: “Our collaboration with DLR marks a significant step in jointly tackling the technological challenges and opportunities in aviation. By combining our industrial expertise with DLR’s scientific excellence, we are creating a strong foundation for innovation and its implementation.”
Both partners benefit from Hamburg’s unique research infrastructure, its close-knit network of industry and academia, and the proximity to key stakeholders in the region. The new cooperation agreement builds on years of successful collaboration and aims to accelerate the transfer of innovations into practical applications, supported by advanced simulation-based development processes.
The new cooperation emphasizes Hamburg’s strategic importance: the region offers ideal conditions to drive technological progress while actively shaping the transformation of the aviation industry.
