Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg) offers a wide range of Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes and about 2/3 of our students pursue a degree in engineering, many with a focus on aviation. Here, aircraft studies have a 75-year long history and a passion for flying is at the heart of many of our research and teaching activities.

Our faculty members have worked in industry before joining the university and our teaching provides students with practical insights into their fields of study through projects, lab work, internships and theses in industry.

Hamburg University of Applied Sciences is one of the founding members of the Hamburg Aviation cluster and is tightly connected to the Hamburg Centre of Aviation Training-Lab (HCAT+) as well as the Centre of Applied Aerospace Research (Zentrum für Angewandte Luftfahrtforschung, ZAL). The Competence Center New Flying (CCNF), founded in 2008, with the Future Air Mobility Research and Transfer Centre developed from it, is part of one of the main areas of research at HAW Hamburg, namely “Mobility and Transport”. HAW Hamburg offers innovative engineering study programmes (BA, MA and vocational trainings) to maintain and secure Hamburg’s position as one of the leading centres in aeronautics worldwide.
