HCAT+

Hamburg Centre of Aviation Training

The Hamburg Centre of Aviation Training-Lab (HCAT+) e.V. is the development network for future-oriented training and further education in the civil aviation industry in the Hamburg metropolitan region. In this joint project, the city, companies, universities, educational institutions and associations join forces to ensure optimal qualification.

Since its foundation in November 2014, the HCAT+ (Hamburg Center of Aviation Training - Lab) has been developing, coordinating and supporting projects in the field of aviation education. These are aimed at such heterogeneous target groups as school pupils, aviation employees and small and medium-sized companies. The focus of HCAT+, its members and partners is always on the current qualification and structural challenges of the aviation industry as well as the location, education and innovation policy goals of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The association primarily supports projects that are profitable for its partners in the context of securing or expanding knowledge or expertise, but would not be feasible without a joint development platform.

The building of the Hamburg Centre of Aviation Training as a center for education and training in the field of aviation technology links educational institutions and stakeholders in the form of a learning location cooperation and bundles extensive expertise in academic and non-academic education. In addition to HAW Hamburg and the Berufliche Schule Gesundheit Luftfahrt Technik (GELUTEC), Airbus and Lufthansa Technical Training also jointly use the laboratories and workshops. Through the direct exchange between teaching, research and practice, the qualification is tailored to the current and future needs of the industry. The focus of academic teaching is on cabin and cabin systems. The focus of training and further education is on avionics/electronics, modern manufacturing processes and new materials.
