Start of applications for the Hamburg Aviation Young Talent Award 2024

Hamburg, 29 January 2024 - The application phase for the prestigious Hamburg Aviation Young Talent Award began today in the aviation metropolis of Hamburg.

With the "Hamburg Aviation Young Talent Award", Hamburg Aviation promotes young talents with innovative ideas in the German aviation industry. In the long term, this helps to maintain the competitiveness of the Hamburg metropolitan region as an aviation centre and to retain well-trained academics in the region.

This year's awards recognise theses in the categories "Bachelor", "Master" and "Sustainable Aviation". The prize is supported by Airbus Operations GmbH, Hanse-Aerospace e.V., HECAS e.V., Krüger Aviation GmbH, Lufthansa Technik AG and Treo Labor für Umweltsimulation GmbH.

This is the twelfth time that the Young Talent Award has been presented for theses dealing with aviation-related issues (including topics from other disciplines). The jury, consisting of high-ranking representatives from the aviation industry, universities and research institutes, will assess the submitted projects according to criteria such as originality, practical relevance and feasibility.

Ralf Gust, Managing Director of Hamburg Aviation, emphasised the importance of the young talent award: "The aviation industry is facing major challenges, but also exciting opportunities. With the Hamburg Aviation Young Talent Award, we want to encourage young talents to contribute their ideas and help shape the future of aviation in a sustainable way."

The application deadline is 8th of March 2024 and the winners will be announced at the Hamburg Aviation Forum on 17 October 2024. In addition to prize money of 1,500, 1,000 or 500 euros each, the winners will have the opportunity to present their projects to a broad specialist audience and make valuable contacts in the aviation industry.
