With a historic record result and a forward-looking personnel decision, Lufthansa Technik is setting two strong signals - for its own company and for the aviation region of Hamburg.
As the Hamburg-based company announced, Lufthansa Technik achieved the best result in its history in the first quarter of 2024. Revenue increased by 18 per cent year-on-year to 1.7 billion euros. Particularly pleasing: all business segments and regions contributed to this growth. The operating result (Adjusted EBIT) climbed by 43 per cent to 190 million euros.
“We are delighted that the first quarter of 2025 went so well,” says Soeren Stark, CEO of Lufthansa Technik. “At the same time, achieving our ambitious targets is not a foregone conclusion. For example, we are currently studying and preparing for the possible effects of increased customs duties. However, it is still too early to provide details.” Overall, the ongoing difficulties with material supplies across the industry and disproportionately high cost increases continue to pose challenges. Despite these conditions, Lufthansa Technik is aiming for a positive revenue and earnings performance for the full year against the backdrop of continued strong demand for maintenance and repair services.
In parallel with the economic success, the company also announced personnel changes in the management team: The Supervisory Board has appointed Dr Christian Leifeld as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Dr Janna Schumacher as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Both will join the Management Board from 1 July 2025. With their expertise in finance and human resources development, they will drive forward Lufthansa Technik's growth strategy in a targeted manner.
These developments impressively demonstrate the central role that the aviation industry plays in the economic strength of the Hamburg metropolitan region. As one of the largest employers and drivers of innovation, Lufthansa Technik makes a significant contribution to the international visibility of the location - and creates prospects for thousands of skilled workers and partner companies in the region.
