GATE FUTURE 2025: Airport Industry Discusses Cyber Security and Passenger Convenience

Date

GATE – The Airport Technology Network – invites participants to the sixth GATE FUTURE Innovation Forum in Berlin. Taking place at the Steigenberger Hotel near the Chancellery, the event brings together decision-makers from commercial and regional airports, innovative suppliers, researchers, and political representatives. Together, they will look toward the future of the airport industry – focusing on sustainable technologies, digital innovations, and new solutions to significantly enhance efficiency and the passenger experience. On June 26, 2025, GATE FUTURE once again becomes a platform for exchange, inspiration, and actionable ideas for the aviation world of tomorrow.

This year's program centers around two highly topical panel discussions. The panel on Passenger Convenience explores how airports can become more customer-friendly and efficient throughout the entire travel chain. Key themes include biometric processes, automated procedures, and digital services. Among the participants are Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), who will discuss technological and operational approaches to optimizing the passenger journey.

Another key focus is Cybersecurity, which will be addressed in an international panel discussion held in English. Against the backdrop of growing digital interconnectivity and increasing reliance on IT systems within critical infrastructure, experts will exchange views on security strategies, cloud-first concepts, data integrity, and airport resilience. The discussion will highlight the crucial role cybersecurity already plays in ensuring smooth and future-proof airport operations – and its growing importance in the years ahead.

A central feature of the innovation forum is the hands-on workshop program, comprising twelve sessions offering participants in-depth insights into technological solutions and strategic developments.

Following the opening by GATE President Kay Bärenfänger and a political welcome address, the day’s program kicks off with inspiring keynotes, engaging panels, and interactive workshops. The event concludes with a communal dinner at the nearby restaurant Reinhard Bär, providing a relaxed setting for informal networking and the development of new partnerships.
