BLU-Space is a finalist for the Innovation Award of the German Mobility Industry

The Hamburg-based drone project BLU-Space has been nominated for the German Mobility Industry Innovation Award. This makes the initiative one of the three finalists in the "Products/Projects" category. This is the fifth time that the German Transport Science Association (DVWG) has honoured pioneering projects that can shape the mobility of the future in a sustainable way. The award ceremony will take place on 11 November 2025 in Frankfurt's Paulskirche as part of the German Mobility Congress.

BLU-Space: blueprint for safe drone traffic
BLU-Space shows how unmanned air traffic can be safely, automatically and economically integrated into existing airspace in the future. Real tests are being carried out for the first time in Hamburg airspace, in which air traffic data from various sources is being collated and trialled. A special feature of the project is the active involvement of several partners and stakeholders from the worlds of business and aviation, who are working together to develop standards for sustainable air traffic planning.

BLU-Space is creating a basis for a wide range of applications - from drone transport in logistics and medical care to disaster control and cross-border data interfaces for international cooperation. The project is thus making a decisive contribution to the safe integration of drones into the mobility system of the future.

Award ceremony as part of the German Mobility Congress
The other nominees are EDGITAL GmbH with an AI-supported platform for recording road conditions and Toll Collect GmbH, which provides real-time data on capacity utilisation at motorway service stations with its parking space information service (SID). The jury will announce which project is the most convincing on 11 November 2025 in Frankfurt's Paulskirche. The award will be presented as part of the German Mobility Congress, which is being organised by the DVWG together with the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund and Messe Frankfurt GmbH on 12 and 13 November 2025. The congress programme offers a platform for experts from the fields of public transport, automotive, logistics and aviation to discuss current developments in mobility.

About BLU-Space

The BLU-Space project is developing a system for the management of unmanned drone traffic in Germany. It aims to link air traffic data with data from various sources and platforms under real conditions for the first time in order to develop cross-border blueprints. This should make a significant contribution to safe and economical air mobility. The BLU-Space project is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport with a total of 2.36 million euros as part of the mFUND innovation initiative.
