Future Technologies for Hamburg: Humanoid Robotics and the Production of the Future

Humanoid robotics and embodied AI are set to fundamentally reshape industrial production — including in aviation. From precision manufacturing components to adaptive production processes and new approaches to sheet metal processing, the potential for Hamburg’s aviation industry is significant.

Together with Hamburg University of Technology (TU Hamburg), the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce will explore technology trends, policy frameworks, and practical application examples on 2 October. The event is particularly relevant to the local aviation community, as two of the key speakers come directly from the aviation ecosystem:

Prof. Thorsten Schüppstuhl (Institute of Aircraft Production Technology, TU Hamburg; member of the Hamburg Aviation board) will deliver the keynote on “Humanoid Robotics and Embodied AI: The Next (Re-)Evolution of Production,” demonstrating how new generations of robotics can transform aviation manufacturing.

Dr. Simon M. Kothe, Head of the Aviation Office at Fraunhofer IFAM, will present applied robotics research in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region with a direct focus on the production and manufacturing requirements of the aviation industry.

Additionally, leading researchers and representatives from the Otto Group and GoodBytz will join a closing panel to discuss how Hamburg can further strengthen its position as an innovation hub for next-generation production technologies.
