readAERQ enables airlines to digitalise their aircraft cabins by providing a new kind of digital ecosystem in and around the aircraft fueled by software, hardware and data.
AERQ is a joint venture between LG Electronics and Lufthansa Technik and is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. Currently it employs people from more than 20 different countries and is constantly expanding its operations. With roots both in the consumer electronics and aviation AERQ aims to make airlines the playmakers for their own cabin experience as airlines know by themselves what they need to be successful. AERQ Platform
The “heart piece” of AERQ’s digital cabin solutions is an open IT platform that consists of onboard touchpoints and a software architecture that allows control and customisation. Together they build an ecosystem that will help airlines to profit from the growth possibilities connected with digitalisation by meeting the rapidly changing demands of their passenger’s expectations. The AERQ Platform connects the dots between passengers, crew and developers and enables the airlines to gain control over all digital touchpoints and to have a choice in look & feel, use cases and applications. This way, airlines are able to create competition with regards to passenger experience and product differentiation, as seamless travel journeys will benefit the passengers.
The AERQ Platform includes touch points such as an Inseat System and Cabin Digital Signage. The Inseat System provides passengers with an exceptional inflight entertainment experience, including integration of their own devices. With AERQ passengers will have the same experience onboard as they have on ground. The Cabin Digital Signage screens are based on the latest OLED technology. The Welcome Board was introduced at the FlyingLab in September 2019. It can greet passengers onboard the aircraft and functions also to enhance the airline brand while providing passenger relevant information. This technology can also be applied to Ceiling Panels to provide passengers with a customised cabin experience. The Transparent Class Divider is a state-of-the-art transparent OLED display that divides large cabin environments in a visually appealing manner and was shortlisted at the 2020 Crystal Cabin Award.
