Hamburg Airport has announced launched its yearly sponsorship initiative for volunteer projects from the region, presented with its shareholder AviAlliance. For the fourth edition of the Hamburg Airport Neightbourhood Award, the organizers have introduced a new concept: In 2022, the award will be offered in three winning categories, while the popular online voting process remains in place. FOr the first time, a jury will decide on the winning entries. The motivation behind the changes is to give smaller groups and initiatives more chances to win an award with their concept. The patron of the Neighborhood Award is Hamburg's Senator for Social Affairs, Dr. Melanie Leonhard.
Applications for the 2022 Neighborhood Award have just opened. Once again this year, all registered, recognized non-profit or charitable associations, organizations and institutions from the Hamburg metropolitan region are invited to apply. In the fourth round of the Neighborhood Award, Hamburg Airport is offering the Neighborhood Award in three categories: Society & Social Affairs, Culture & Sports, and Sustainability & Environment. Four winners will be selected in each category.
The Neighborhood Award supports charity work with a total of €12,000; a total of €4,000 in prizes is awarded in each category. The prize for the Culture & Sport category is provided by airport shareholder AviAlliance. New this year is thje voting provess. An independent jury selects the winners in each category. First-place winners each receive €1,250 euros, second-place €750 and for third-place, while entrants in third place win €500. The popular online voting system supplements the jury's decision with one winner per category, who receive a special additional prize of €1,500. All the prizes will be used for material investments (furniture, training equipment, technology, etc.) at the facilities.
Applications and voting now open, voting continues until the end of October
The application phase for the Hamburg Airport Neighborhood Award 2022 has begun and runs until 25 September, 2022. Then it's the jury's turn. The panel reviews all entries and decides on the three winners per category. In the meantime, the applicants can do their bit to promote their project. Whoever gets the most votes for their category in the online voting has a chance of winning the special Voter Prize. During the voting phase from 26 September to 30 October 2022 (12 noon), only the votes registered at the official website will be counted; voting via social media is not counted. The award ceremony will take place on 15 November 2022.

How to apply for the Neighborhood Award 2022
Applying is easy: On the offiicial website particiapnts select one of the three categories for their project. Next, they can add videos and photos to their project presentation, along with a short text. Finally, the project is uploaded to the application and voting website. Good luck to all entrants!
