Gastbeitrag "The Runway Girl Network": Aircraft interiors innovators invited to promote ideas

Verschiedenes

The Crystal Cabin Award (CCA) is the only international prize for innovation in the field of aircraft cabins, and has become renowned in the industry for rewarding excellence in the sector. Each year, CCA organizers cast a wide net, and elicit submissions from all over the world. But they are eager to see even more inventors participate.

“We would like to encourage companies to join the competition because the Crystal Cabin Award has become a seal of excellence worldwide and now this is a good opportunity for everybody to promote their own new innovative products and concepts,” CCA manager Carmen Krause told Runway Girl Network in an interview in advance of this year’s CCA gala dinner in Hamburg (the gala is always held during the same week as the Aircraft Interiors Expo).

This year’s winners were DIEHL Aerospace, B/E Aerospace, Schott, ZIM Flugsitz, Lufthansa Technik, Paperclip Design and Delft Technical University. You’ll recognize many of these names, but the CCA judges also shine the light on far smaller operations as well.

Take Paperclip Design, for instance. Company designer James Lee was rewarded for his Caterpillar-Convertible seating concept. Designed for long haul flights, Caterpillar can easily be transformed between premium economy and business class. During the week of the Expo, Lee carried around a barbie-sized scale model of the winning concept to show prospective partners.
